Biography
Born in Paris in 1985, Racha Baroud is a Lebanese actress and director. Beside her Master in Theatre Studies at the Sorbonne Nouvelle, she trained in Paris in L’Atelier du jeu led by Jacques Fontaine. She later focused on physical work with Studio Matejka, based in the Grotowski Institute in Poland and deepened her craft in the frame of several workshops in Europe particularly among Alessio Castellacci, Irena Tomazin and Theodoros Terzopoulos.
In 2015, she staged her first performance Today was my birthday, a musical tribute to the theatre of Tadeusz Kantor.
Her interest in cinema led her to attend the intensive program Practice of directing documentary films in Atelier Varan in Paris.
In 2020, she co-directed the documentary Ali, Hachem et Khaled in collaboration with Roy Arida. In May 2022, she presented her latest piece What if those tears were not only mine?, a performance about unconscious heritage.
In 2023, she began a performative research into the question of erasure in collaboration with the patients of the Malévoz psychiatric hospital in Monthey (Switzerland).

Née à Paris le 21 juin 1985, Racha Baroud est comédienne et metteur en scène d’origine libanaise. En parallèle d’une maîtrise en Études Théâtrales à la Sorbonne Nouvelle, elle intègre l’Atelier du jeu de Jacques Fontaine à Paris et poursuit sa formation concentrée sur le corps et la voix au Studio Matejka à l’Institut Grotowski en Pologne, et au sein de divers ateliers en Europe notamment auprès d’Alessio Castellacci, d’Irena Tomazin, ou de Theodoros Terzopoulos.
Elle monte son premier spectacle en 2015, Aujourd’hui c’était mon anniversaire, un hommage musical au théâtre de Tadeusz Kantor.
Passionnée tant par le théâtre que le cinéma, elle suit une formation aux Ateliers Varans. En 2020 elle coréalise le documentaire Ali, Hachem et Khaled avec Roy Arida. En Mai 2022, elle présente sa dernière pièce Et si ces larmes n’étaient pas que le miennes?, un spectacle autour de l’héritage inconscient.
En 2023, elle entame une recherche performative autour de la question de l’effacement en collaboration avec les patients de l’hôpital psychiatrique de Malévoz, à Monthey (Suisse).
